Visit of Marita Conlon-McKenna
05 November 2012On 24th October Marita Conlon-McKenna came on a visit to our school. As author of the month she came in and talked to 5th and 6th class. Marita told us that "Under the Hawthorn Tree" was her first book published for her eldest daughter Amanda. She got the idea for this book from a story about a man who knocked down a treen to make a pitch. However under the tree her found three skeletons of children from the Great Famine. Another great book of hers is her newest novel "Love Lucie" who looses her mother to cancer and begins to write letters to her mother in a diary. Marita has written a lot of great books for both adults and children. Marita now lives with her husband James where she peacefully writes her books surrounded by nature.
